Additional Information

What is stainless steel?

Stainless steel (also known as inox steel or simply inox) is a steel alloy with minimum of 10% to 11% chromium content by mass. Stainless steel is more resistant to stain, corrosion or rust compared to ordinary steel. There are different types or grades of stainless steel which will depend on the amount of components in the alloy and will exhibit different physical and chemical properties. 316L stainless steel is usually used in crafting jewelry. It is durable, hypoallergenic, non-reactive to harsh conditions and can be plated to resemble other metals.

What is cobalt chrome?

Cobalt chrome is a member of the stainless steel family of alloys, composed of cobalt and chromium with variants which may include molybdenum and traces of nickel, iron and carbon. Cobalt chrome is very strong, hard and corrosion resistant, primarily used in long-term orthopedic implants and denture components due to its excellent biocompatibility and hypoallergenic quality.

What is titanium?

Titanium is a metallic element with silver color. It is corrosion resistant and has the highest strength-to-weight ratio in any naturally occurring metals. Titanium can be alloyed with other elements, but even when unalloyed it is as strong as some types of steels but 45% lighter. It has been popular to jewelry designers due to its hypoallergenic quality and non-reactivity to harsh conditions like chlorinated water or salt water.

What other materials are used on INOX Jewelry?

INOX Jewelry use high quality materials such as wood, carbon fiber, enamel, rubber, Morano glass and cubic zirconia. INOX also incorporates minerals and gem stones like rose quartz, shell, howlite and pearl, among others, in some jewelry products.

What is Ion Plating? How long does it last?

Ion plating is a physical vapor deposition (PVD) process which is a method to deposit thin films of condensation of a vaporized form of material onto a surface. The excellent film adherence of ion-plated film is due to the formation of a graded or layered interface between the film and the substrate (surface to be plated). The graded interface also strengthens the surface and subsurface zones. Ion plated jewelry is proven to last longer than electroplated jewelry. Though durability of the coating depends on the maintenance, environmental conditions and other factors, jewelry with ion plating usually lasts for decades.

What are the benefits of alternative metal jewelry?

Titanium, tungsten carbide and stainless steel jewelry are the three most prominent types of alternative metal jewelry. These kinds of jewelry have been considered to be alternatives to gold, silver and platinum. Alternative metal jewelry is far more affordable, durable and hypoallergenic compared to precious metals. Due to the versatility of alternative metal jewelry, there are numerous styles and designs now available for both men and women. Alternative metal jewelry can also be crafted to emulate precious metals like rose or yellow gold jewelry using ion plating.
